Day 30

A momentum is occurring. Growing numbers of people are interested in being peaceful. The action of peace is being peace. Since we began in June 2008 we've already reached people around the globe in 44 countries and in every U.S. state.

Peace is fun. When people are peaceful, they laugh a lot. They take care of each other. They share resources and are open to new and diverse ideas. Peaceful life is good life. It's spontaneous, generous, and wildly creative. It's an art and skill.

That's what The Great American Think Out is all about: inviting everyone in this country and throughout the world to be generous with their presence, to promise to spend a day basking in the intentions of peace and meditation all at once.

We don't care how you do it! Do it your way. Your way is ideal. It's genuine.

Join the millions of people who meditate every day. Or set up a dance party, tell jokes, run a marathon, go hiking in nature. Paint your children's faces to look like animals and frost some cupcakes. Sing silly songs. Feed someone. The main thing you do when you do something you love is that you are entirely present. Your mind gets quiet when you are caught up in joyful activity or relaxation.

We've been friends for 30 days now, haven't we? That's a pretty long time for a single conversation to go on. We're impressed. Richard and I would like to keep this relationship alive and bring it off the computer screen and into the world.

Keep an eye on your inbox for a message in a few days asking you to come and join us in a Think Out brainstorming group or attend a teleseminar with a special group of teachers and leaders, as this is how we're going to develop magnitude.

Prepare for a growing wave of heartfelt intention to build by spending some of your time every day imagining your peaceful life. Stephanie loves to contemplate what life is like beyond our problems. She loves to facilitate the discovery of creative solutions and expression. Richard loves to get ahead of the curve and manifest big ideas that shift the paradigm for us all. We share a vision.

Are you ready to unleash the visionary who lives in your heart? We hope so and encourage you to do it. There's never been a better opportunity than right now.

You'll be amazed at what comes into your life as a result of it.

Quick, think of one person who would thoroughly enjoy riding the wave of peaceful intention with you. Now, don't hesitate. Reach out to that person. That's all it takes to carry this program forward into a real world where everyone shares the value of nonviolent, creative intention.

Every question has an answer.

Every problem has a solution.

Step back and enter the Big Mind space where the knotted mini-mind untangles.

When people are present in a genuinely connected way, they look into each other's eyes. They listen and absorb what's being said. They respond naturally. The energy of presence is restful and relaxed, because it's pure essence.

Here's a secret for you: If you want to live in peace, the way to do it is to live in peace. You have to be 100% responsible for choosing this outcome.

That's it. It's a decision. Once you see how simple it is there's no ignoring it.

And here's the good news: Being 100% responsible for the outcome in your own life and environment means you don't have to wait for it, and you don't need someone else to act upon it. You do, be, and have inner peace and outer peace the moment that YOU do, be, and have peace.

We are honored that you have shown up.

When you wake up in the morning tomorrow and open your eyes to the day, we hope you are excited and filled with creative ideas that make your life something special. We hope you live your dreams and celebrate the dreams of others.

Be open to the amazing life that is about to happen. Unbelievable surprises are coming your way as our entire world shifts into a new paradigm of possibility.

Opportunity #30 Five ways to ensure The Think Out is successful

  1. Meditate and spend time conscious of being in presence once a day.
  2. Keep the conversation of presence and peaceful strategies alive in your daily life. Encourage your friends, family, community, and colleagues to participate. Share your photos and strategies on our Facebook/MySpace/LinkedIn pages.
  3. Set up your own weekly Stop Thinking Now support circle (see suggestions below).
  4. Take advantage of this campaign's resources, including opportunities to meet, learn from, and be inspired by different wisdom teachers and experts. We'll be hosting teleseminars and gatherings as often as possible, to be announced.
  5. Resolve to be in a state of presence on the day of the actual Think Out. The person you most need to influence is yourself. Your decision to quit thinking even for one day is incredibly powerful and can change the world.
Here are a few suggestions for running a Stop Thinking Now support circle:

As Byron Katie, creator of The Work, says, "Stories are the untested, uninvestigated theories that tell us what all these things mean. We don't even realize that they're just theories." As your circle comes together, have everyone set an intention to drop your stories.

Spend five or ten minutes seated in silence together. Breathe and let go of your story. Draw your awareness back from the day's activities and focus on your body.

Go around the circle and have each person in turn share his or her thoughts and ideas about being present. Make an agreement beforehand that there won't be back talking. Simply hear and reflect upon the ideas as you are listening.

You could take turns saying one inspiring word (such as "peace," "love," "communion," "gratitude") or a simple blessing (such as "May all beings be free and happy" or the words of The Serenity Prayer).

You could take turns setting an intention for the coming week (such as "I intend to take each day as it comes," "I intend to demonstrate my appreciation to everyone I work with," or "I shall smile at everyone I meet this week"). Choose an intention that is from the heart--meaningful to you personally.

Speak your special vision of increasing peace. How do you recognize its presence?

Ask if there is anything more that anyone in the circle needs or wants.

Close the circle by spending a final minute holding a clear intention of peace.

Any of the preceding ideas can be combined with the activities of healing or spiritual circles already in existence. You might also use your regular group meeting as an opportunity to plan what you would like to celebrate the day of The Great American Think Out.

Welcome to the community of peacemakers.

We are deeply, deeply grateful to you.

You are amazing!

Let's have a blast.
